ORIGINALS by ANDREA was established a decade ago by Canadian designer Andrea Kolpaska.
Andrea Kolpaska emigrated from the Slovak Republic/Czechoslovakia in 1999 to begin a new life in Canada. Immediately struck by her adopted country's natural beauty, Andrea was inspired to explore the beauty of this country's natural gemstones by creating creating jewellery that celebrated its natural heritage. This was a natural progression for Andrea; she had been making jewellery and collecting gemstone since she was 16, a pursuit that let her to complete a program at the University of Art and Design in Bratislava. The response to Andrea's pieces here in Canada was overwhelming, and soon, ORIGINALS by ANDREA was born, turning an all-consuming hobby into a business.
From this inspiration grew ORIGINALS by ANDREA, creations that reflect Andrea Kolpaska's unique artistic vision and singular interpretation of nature's magnificent materials. Transcending seasons and time, Andrea's collections are timeless, unique and innovative pieces featuring the finest quality Czech and Venetian glass, Swarovski crystals, semiprecious stones, natural minerals, freshwater Akoya pearls, and saltwater Tahitian pearls, sterling silver, 14Kt and 18Kt gold, and fossils in a diverse collection of broaches, pendants, necklaces, earrings and bracelets.

Andrea Kolpaska is married and lives in Ottawa with her husband, painter Ed Ambros.
