American jewellery designer, Jan Michaels, characterizes her creative style as 'modern vintage' - a look that is all her own - inspired by antiquity and modern wearability. With over 30-years experience in her field, her aesthetic has transitioned over time but has stayed original. In true artisan fashion, each piece of Jan Michael's collection is riveted, wired and wrapped by hand. Designs are original creations and made to last, as to become antiques of the future.

As she mastered metal-working and silver-smithing, she developed a penchant for brass. Used for coins, beads, vases and instruments in the days of ancient Rome, to modern-day West Africa, brass is a mix of copper and zinc, an alloy with a honey glow, similar to 12k gold. Through an environmentally-friendly process, Jan gives the metal an antiqued finish which complements most complexions.
Similar to amulets and talismans, the tiger tooth is believed to attract positive energy and protect one from negative forces. This stylized rendition made from bone, may or may not bring good luck, but will certainly put one in a feel-good mood.
Elements of fauna are beautifully faceted on these brass and onyx pieces, which are made to have the feel of days gone by but have a timeless look.
