One of our chosen Pinterest looks showcases a soft cardigan layered over a crisp cotton shirt, yielding a timeless and ageless style. Pastels and citrus brights pop beautifully on a white jean. If the slim leg is not suitable for you, try a straight or boot cut to flatter.
Elaine is pictured wearing the Yoga Jeans high-rise ankle, which has stretch so you can move. It is available in white and a variety of bright and pastel colours.
Going with a soft knit, non-fitted, cropped top over jeans will help to balance out a curvier hip. Adding a vibrant scarf around the neck will draw attention upward and away from a fuller tummy and bottom.
Elaine is wearing an Eileen Fisher soft knit cropped top with a more relaxed fit. This shape is more forgiving than the slimmer cut knit pictured on the left.
Does Your Hem Hang Low?
A longer length cardigan looks intimidating on a hanger as we assume that it will overpower our silhouette. But, just take a look at how it it takes Kirsten up! The key is to 1) choose a longer, semi-fitted underpinning that deters the eye from stopping at the waist; and 2) wear it open, as from the moment you close it, you break the vertical line that runs from head to toe. As mentioned in a previous blog, adding a long necklace that sits just around the belly button is a fabulous way to add even more height.
Pictured on Kirsten is a long cardigan from Eileen Fisher and a tank/ tunic by Sun Kim. Both pieces are lightweight and can be worn in warmer weather.
A great way to update your denim is to pair with with tops and footwear in "nature's neutrals". There is something very luxe, yet understated, about this look. It has that less-is-more feeling, which we love.
Elaine's funky knit is from Oblique, an Italian collection introduced to Shepherd's this past Spring.
