Pastels and natural tones take centre stage this spring!
In every aspect of style from home decor to make-up and fashion, this season's hottest hues are oh-so-soft. The question is, "How do we wear and pair these tones?"
The nostalgia-minded will recall how pastels took over the fashion scene in the 1980s, for better or worse. Even men embraced the lavenders, ocean blues, peaches and soft pinks; think Don Johnson, i.e. Sonny Crocket of Miami Vice. Understandably, some may view pastels as overly sweet, youthful or cutesy.
And pastels now...
Thankfully, pastels have taken on a more modern look. With no "cutesy cuts" to be seen, this season is all about soft tones with an edge. We especially love the new cocoon cardigan, soft slouch pants, and the waterfall leather jacket.
Blush tones in linens and silks give refined European styling to this summer's styles. These pieces are from Shepherd's Grizas collection, which has arrived from Germany.
Canadian springtime gives us a welcomed getaway from blacks and other dark colours in favour of "easy, peasy pastels".
"Colour's new direction takes its cue from nature,"according to colour powerhouse, Pantone. "Soft hues blend with subtle warm tones to create a soothing escape from the 'every day' hustle and bustle."
