Interior designer, and Shepherd's visual merchandiser, Kirsten Vint, loves to share the sweet moments in life. "One of the main reasons I love decor so much is that I can create a nice setting to entertain in," enthuses Kirsten. "I think that setting the mood when having people over is conducive to building great memories. It doesn't have to be a big production over a five course dinner; I love to share a laugh over a glass of lemonade, cup of tea, or sweet treat!"
Dressing Your Table
Kirsten was inspired by the arrival of serving dishes and home accents in beautiful pinks, greens, and neutrals. To make your table inviting, she suggests keeping a cohesive, fresh colour palette, and mixing old and new pieces (i.e. cutlery, glassware, cloth napkins), just as you would in your wardrobe. She loves using quality silk florals for centrepieces as they never wilt and can be bent and reshaped as many times as you like! "Yes, these stems are on the expensive side, but they last forever," states Kirsten. Style a high vase that can be moved to a side table during your meal and/or, for a rich floral market look, place blooms in unexpected containers, like water glasses, pitchers, and pasta bowls. Adding elements of fauna - buds, blossoms, birds, and bunnies - will awaken the spring in your step! Plus, they will be forever in style as a part of your home decor collection.
