Evening Rituals To Share
Our recent launch of bamboo pajama sets got us thinking about ways to wind down at the end of the day when getting ready for bed.
We liked the idea so much, that we based our latest Prime Time Thursday Live segment around skincare and health and mind wellness rituals that have proven beneficial for us.
We're happy to share our tips and current products of choice. Note: This blog has not been sponsored by any these brands.
Stephanie is all About Skin, Lips and Hair!
Stephanie has learned to treat her sensitive and reactive skin through trial and error. She established a multi-step routine that makes the most of her skin. "Products don't have to be expensive to work well. Routine and diligence is the key."
Cleansing
Stephanie removes her makeup in a gentle fashion with two products that work hand in hand. First is a chamomile-based cleansing oil called Dissolve the Day from The Body Shop. "It even removes waterproof mascara!"
Next comes the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser. It's gentle but easily removes any residual makeup or oil that could clog the pores.
Moisturizing
First, Stephanie uses an eye cream specifically targeted for this area: the Eye Repair Cream from CeraVe. It contains botanical complexes that also reduce eye puffiness.
Next, she applies the Skin Renewing Nightly Exfolation Treatment from CeraVe. It feels like a serum and helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines by restoring the skin barrier and retaining the skin's hydration.
Third, she applies the PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion from CeraVe. "It is heavier than something I would apply during the day and helps soothe the skin," Stephanie says.
And finally, have you heard of Lucas' Papaw ointment? It is an all-over ointment that helps cure cuts, cracked skin, bruises, burns, heat rash and more. Stephanie uses it nightly to treat her lips.
Stephanie's Hair Tip: Apply your dry shampoo at night and wake up with great "second day" hair.
Rachelle's Skincare Routine
Cleansing
"I've been using Dermablend Makeup Remover for years. I've started using a microfiber cleansing cloth in conjunction with this cleanser. The cloth is from Norwex and contains BacLock®, an antibacterial agent designed to inhibit bacterial odour, mold and mildew."
Moisturizing
Rachelle uses products from Ottawa-based makeup artist L.A. Barrett. She alternates between the rich Intense Hyaluronic Moisturizer and Hydrate Mango Face Cream. She also uses the Active Eye Cream, morning and night.
Rachelle's favourite lip product is the Double Duty Lip and Cheek Cream, a two-in-one lip colour and blush.
To help sooth her psoriasis, Rachelle's dermatologist recommended Rachelle's dermatologist recommended La Roche Posay's Lipikar Lait Urea 5+ Body Balm. She uses this specially formulated multiple times per day to treat dry skin.
Lisa's Wellness Approach
Lisa loves to set the scene for serene sleep. "An hour before bed, I start my calming routine. First, I light my lavender-scented Bonne Nuit candle from Dans un Jardin."
Moisturizing
Lisa's go-to foot cream is also from Dans un Jardin. She hydrates nightly with the Bonne Nuit Good Night body cream and then envelops her feet in a pair of cotton socks to seal in moisture.
"I'm a skincare and makeup fan. I've tried many, many brands out there and my favourite night cream is the L'oreal Paris Revitalift Pressed Night Cream. It contains Retinol and Niacinamide. It's rich and restorative."
"I like the idea of a natural deodorant and Under Carriage helps prevent odour, chafing and discomfort. You can use it under your arms, 'south of the border' and even on your feet."

Marlene's Multi-Action Power Products
Marlene doesn't like to fuss with too many products at night, or any other time of day! The name-of-the-game for her is all-in-one products.
Currently, Marlene is enjoying Olay Daily Facials Water-Activated Dry Cloths. All you have to do is add a little water and lather up to experience the benefits of a cleanser, toner, and a mask.
